History of GG Café
(taken from Exploring Leesburg, page 26)
This elaborate Italianate-style building is one of only a few late-nineteenth-century commercial buildings in Leesburg that retain their original storefronts. It features arched windows and a recessed double door that is flanked by wood pilasters. Its elaborate roof cornice and decorative brick patterns exemplify late Victorian commercial architecture. At the turn of the twentieth century, the building held a butcher shop. Later, it was the home of Kidwell’s Grocery and Daley’s Grocery. During the 1970s, the building served as the local Republican Party headquarters.
